Invicta 4-4 Haringey

The Wolves finally secured their first point of the season in an entertaining 4-4 draw away at high flying Invicta in a game that was reduced to 15 minute periods due to ice time constraints at Invicta. For once the Wolves started brightly and took the game to their opponents and were rewarded with a goal on 5 minutes when Reon Burns converted from close in, the assist going to Matt Catchpole, Invicta came straight back and within 2 minutes were level, but the Wolves were not to be put off and continued to attack the Invicta defense and were rewarded on 13 minutes with a Jordon Jones goal with the assist going to Julie Rosenfeld, before the end of the period the Wolves could have a third but as an attack built in the Inivcta zone the buzzer inexplicably sounded and with all the players stopping and looking bemused the referee stopped the game and the chance was gone.

Immediately at the start of the 2 nd debutant Sean Byrnes scored a brilliant individual goal to make it 3-1, but once again Invicta came straight back and made it 3-2 after 24 minutes the rest of the period had chances at both ends but remained scoreless. Mid way through the 3 rd Reon was given a match penalty handing Invicta a 5 minute powerplay which they made count in emphatic style with 2 goals in 40 seconds to lead 4-3, Invicta then conceded a penalty and with both sides having 4 men the Wolves capitalized when with 6 minutes remaining Joe Grathwohl broke away and neatly finished the assist going to Jordan

MOM was Will Sharp for another outstanding game between the pipes, but credit to the whole side for the effort that was put in and the refusal to give up when they went behind late in the game, hopefully this will give us a confidence boost going into the final games of the season

Swindon Lions 9- Haringey Wolves 1

A Wolves team seriously lacking in numbers once again were always going to be up against it against a Swindon side who had double the players on their bench that were on the Wolves side.

Despite constantly battling and trying to match their opponents Swindon always had the edge and as the team tired the goals started to flow and despite numerous penalties called against the home side the Wolves couldn't find away through, until after conceding a goal with 2 seconds on the clock the Wolves were handed a goal in the most comical circumstances, the players lined up for the formality of the referee dropping the puck and time expiring, as he did so Scott Stevens just let the opposing centre poke the puck away to Jordon Jones who lobbed the puck in the direction of the Swindon goal whose netminder was facing the wrong way collection his bottle as he thought the game was over, as the puck rolled into the goal the players noticed the timekeeper hadn't started the clock and the referee had no alternative but to award the goal as he had signalled the time back on.

MOM was Jordan, but credit goes to all the team for constantly battling and never giving up even though they were all exhausted.

The Haringey Wolves, U18 team travelled to Bristol Sunday afternoon for their away match against the Bristol Bulldogs. With a depleted force of 6, the Wolves were steeling themselves for  a gruelling evening. Without their regular goalie and so few players the games would be rewarded to Bristol whatever the outcome. So, Bristol suggested we play a more even match with them lending us 3 skaters (Liam, Graham and Ben) and a the goalies played half for each side to make a 9 versus 9 match. Well, it was a very enjoyable game, having all the requisite elements such as speed, shots, rivalry and enthusiasm from both sides and all players. No one had a rest and the goalies at both ends were tested throughout. Haringey/Bristol opened the scoring in the first minute with a goal from Alex Burr assisted by Fin Carpenter. Everyone realised it would be a real battle and Bristol equalised just passed 3 minutes. Haringey then regained the lead at 8 minutes with a gal from Julie Rosenfeld assisted by Nathan and Fin. Bristol responded within 2 minutes with a goal from number 7 Miley, assisted by number 6. The period ended at 2 -2. Bristol opened the 2nd period with 2 quick goals each unassisted by Miley and Tom Egerton. Haringey/Bristol fought hard to keep in touch and were rewarded with a 3rd goal at 18 mins and a power play with Joe Grathwohl tucking in a rebound from Liam Williams' shot at 20 mins. Bristol responded at 22mins with an unassisted goal by Miley and Haringey again at 23. Period 2 ended at 5 all and an ice cut. The players returned to the locker room for a rest and team talk. Period 3 was hard fought and Haringey/Bristol broke the stalemate at 35 mins with a goal from matt, assisted by Nathan. With 10 mins to go, Haringey/Bristol defended well and were kept in the game by the goalie saving in a number of one on one situations. Final score Haringey/Bristol 6 Bristol 5. (Bristol win 5-0 due to Haringey short bench) MoM Julie Rosenfeld and Spirit of the Game Bristol U18s for making the evening a success. We hope to have an equally good game on the return with a full Haringey contingent to challenge Bristol. Thank you Bristol and thanks to the Haringey players who travelled.

Wolves 2 Lee Valley 5
As in the last game the Wolves found themselves playing catch up from the start, this time 3-0 within 7 minutes. The games first major incident came shortly afterwards when Lee Valley's No 25 received a 5 plus game penalty for throwing a punch into the face of Scott Stevens, despite the 5 minute power play the Wolves couldn't open their account, and by the half way point Lee Valley had extended the lead to 5-0. It was then once again that the Wolves woke up and quickly pulled a goal back from Jordan Jones assisted by Matt Catchpole and Fin Carpenter, the Wolves dominated the rest of the game forcing the opposition onto the defense but despite a late flurry of penalties against them the Lee Valley defence held firm until 58 mins when Jordan scored his second assisted by Nathan Lester. Hopefully in the next game we can start as we finished this one.

Mom was Nathan but special mention should go to Will Sharp, Julie Rosenfeld and Jordan who all had excellent games

The U18's started the season with a disappointing 4-1 home defeat to an Oxford side that was much improved from last season, Oxford found their feet quickly and the Wolves found themselves 2-0 down mid way through the first, the Wolves battled to get back into the game but were 4-0 down by the mid way point, the 4 th oxford goal seemed to spur the Wolves into life and an immediate reply came from Fin Carpenter who took a pass from captain Nathan Lester cut inside the defender and fired a shot into the top corner ,  but a spate of penalties kept the Wolves on the penalty kill ending an hopes of a fightback.
